When the workplace concludes an apprenticeship contract or a training agreement contract, the workplace is asked for feedback using a workplace instructors survey and a workplace survey. In both, the subject of feedback is the operation of the educational institution. The survey does not assess the students. Answering the surveys is voluntary. The respondent's personal information is not asked.
Survey to workplace instructors
The Finnish National Agency for Education sends the workplace instructor survey automatically to all responsible workplace instructors named in the apprenticeship or training agreement when the student’s on-the-job learning period ends. If several students are trained at the workplace in several on-the-job learning periods, the survey will be sent every two weeks, if the work periods end during the two weeks in question. If on-the-job learning periods do not end, the survey will not be sent.
The answer link to the survey is sent to the email address and/or text message to the phone number that the educational institution asks when concluding the contract. The Finnish National Agency for Education gets the contact details of workplace instructors from the national eHOKS data repository, in which education providers record the information. This recording obligation, as well as the sending of the survey, are based on legislation.
The questions in the feedback surveys are related to the everyday aspects of the partnership between vocational institutions and workplaces, such as the customer-orientation of the activities, the agreement process, guidance and support.
Survey to workplaces
The educational institution sends the survey to the workplace representative responsible for cooperation with educational institutions twice a year, in January/February and in July/August, if the workplace has guided apprenticeship and training contract students for the previous six months. The educational institution selects the recipient of the survey based on its own customer data.
The survey to workplaces is not sent to entrepreneurs who are studying with an apprenticeship agreement in their own company. Their mentors receive the survey to workplace instructors.
